Learn how to install OpenClaw (formerly Clawdbot) on your local machine and connect it to Telegram for a private AI assistant that runs 24/7 without cloud dependency.
Open the OpenClaw AI website and copy the installation command, then paste it in your terminal
Installation takes 2-5 minutes and is available for Mac, Linux, or Windows
Follow on-screen instructions in the terminal to configure the gateway and dashboard
Use 'openclaw onboard' command if you cannot access the dashboard
Read security warning carefully, select quick start, and choose your model
The tutorial uses OpenAI Codex GPT 5.2 model with ChatGPT subscription authentication
Create a new bot using Bot Father in Telegram and copy the token
Name your bot with '_bot' suffix (e.g., 'cloneProfilate_bot') and keep the token secret
Get your Telegram user ID by searching for 'user info' and clicking start
Paste your user ID in the terminal to allow access to the bot
Configure skills (optional), disable hooks for now, and restart the gateway
Restarting ensures Telegram integration works properly
Use the pairing code provided in Telegram to connect your bot
If nothing happens, restart OpenClaw with 'ipv for first' command and retry pairing
Send a message like 'status' or ask a question to test the bot
The bot may browse websites for information, so ensure security settings are properly configured
