How to install and open PhonePe app and enter mobile number for account creation
Learn how to create a PhonePe account in just 6 mins and link your bank account to start sending and receiving money instantly. This guide covers everything from installation to setting up UPI PIN.
Download and install PhonePe from Play Store (4.4+ rating, 50+ crore downloads)
Open the app after installation
Enter the mobile number linked to your bank account
If unsure, visit your bank to check which number is linked
Click 'Proceed' and wait for OTP to auto-verify
OTP will be sent to your mobile number automatically
Allow all requested permissions for the app to function
This includes contacts, camera, etc.
Click profile icon > Manage > Set your name and photo
Use pencil icon to edit name and add photo for identification
Go to Manage Payments > View All > UPI Bank Account
Click 'Add New Bank Account' and search for your bank
Select your bank and verify account details
Account must be linked to the same mobile number used in PhonePe
Click 'Set PIN' and verify using debit card or Aadhaar
Enter debit card details (number and expiry) and ATM PIN
Set a 4-digit UPI PIN for transactions
Confirm the PIN and wait for setup to complete
Send money via contacts, scan QR codes, or enter mobile numbers
Check balance and explore other features
