Creating circle feather cards using ink blending and texture techniques
Learn to create vibrant circle and feather cards using nested circle dies, ink blending, and decorative punches. This tutorial shows two color palette options and includes tips for adding dimension and texture to your card designs.
Cut standard 8.5x11 cardstock in half and score to create A2 card bases (4.25x5.5 inches)
Cut additional hammermill paper to approximately 5.5x5.5 inches for blending panels
Blend three colors on each panel using dome foams, working from edges inward
First palette: carved pumpkin, picked raspberry, seedless preserves. Second palette: tumbled glass, shaded lilac, dusty concord
Spray perfect pearls mixture over blended panels using mini mister bottle
Mix perfect pearls with water in a mini mister bottle for easy application
Line up nested circle dies with low tack tape and cut through die machine
Cut panels in half to use on multiple cards, creating layered circle effects
Cut black mats 1/8 inch smaller than A2 base and white layers 1/4 inch smaller than black mats
This creates a thin border effect around the circle panels
Adhere circle layers one at a time using glue, lining up as desired
Trim excess from edges using paper trimmer for clean finish
Use lace punch along bottom edge of white panel for decorative detail
Alternative options include die strips, scalloped edges, or decorative scissors
Stamp sentiment on white panel using script and sans-serif font combination
Position sentiment to leave space for feather element
Die cut feathers and adhere to card, positioning to complement sentiment
Position feather to appear as if writing the scripty word in sentiment
Adhere completed panel to black mat, then to card base
Keep square edge of black mat for contrast with lacy white edge
