Demonstrates the fastest method for making flying geese quilt blocks.
Learn a revolutionary method to create perfect flying geese quilt blocks in under a minute each using a clever folding technique that eliminates waste and works beautifully with directional fabrics.
Cut 4.5" long rectangles from 2.5" wide strips and 2.5" squares from charm squares
You can cut two rectangles at once from a strip. Charm squares work perfectly for the background/sky pieces.
Fold the rectangle with right side out and align the fold with one edge of the square
Ensure the right side of the folded rectangle faces the right side of the square. Use binding clips to hold in place.
Feed the fold side through the sewing machine first and chain piece multiple units
Starting with the fold side reduces bulk. A single seam down the length completes the basic construction.
Press along the fold, then open and press flat to create the flying geese shape
The fabric will naturally open into the classic flying geese triangle shape when pressed.
Snip the seam allowance at the center and press open, then add edge stitching
This reduces bulk significantly. Use matching thread if you don't want visible edge stitching.
Fold directional fabric with the pattern facing up, align carefully, and stitch
The fold line becomes the top edge, ensuring patterns (like crayons) face the correct direction.
